This image released by AMC shows, from left, Aaron Paul, Jonathan Banks, and Bryan Cranston in a scene from the fourth season of ''Breaking Bad.'' The AMC network and producers of the popular series about a chemistry teacher gone bad have agreed on making a fifth and final season of the show.

You are in over your head

This week on Breaking Bad, Walter and Jesse both find themselves trying to prove their worth to somebody.

Dangerous Skylar

Breaking Bad fans probably have mixed feelings about Skylar's involvement in the new family

business, but this week she shows just how much of a threat she really is. Convinced that she and Walter are in danger, Skylar repeatedly pushes him to go to the police as the confused, sick chemistry teacher that he is, and turn himself in. Walter responds in a way no truly meek man could, as he says to her: "You think I'm in danger? I am the danger."

Walt's Transformation

I'm not sure exactly what it was, but something in this weeks episode made me take a second look at Walter now in comparison with what he used to be when the show was first getting started. Walt's transition from depressed and sick to angry and pompous is startling. Maybe it is the scene in the car wash, when the former owner is telling Walter how to be a boss, and how to be tough. The look in Walter's eye is indescribably fierce. If only the poor man knew just how tough Walt already is.

Jesse's Replacements

Jesse Pinkman gets a phone call at the end of a hard day cooking, and leaves early to help Mike on another adventure. Walt, in need of help cleaning up the workspace, seeks assistance from some of the women working in the laundry room front upstairs. The scene cuts to Walt and the three women in bright orange hazmat suits, muttering away in Spanish like its just another day at work. The poor women get sent back home, away from their jobs, but it's just another great classic Walter moment.

Mike Smiles

Mike and Jesse are staked out in front of the house of a couple addicts whom Mike suspects have stolen some of the Los Pollos Hermanos goods. Mike tells Jesse they are going to take care of business his way and wait inside the car, but Jesse gets bold and uses his street smarts to maneuver his way inside the house and gain control over the situation. Mike sees that maybe Jesse is a true asset after all, and cracks the slightest smile.

This week's episode definitely took the season over a new edge. Skylar's irrationality and impulsivity makes my heart beat with fear. Will she break down and tell somebody what has been going on? In the meantime, Jesse seems to be making a name for himself, at least in Gus' eyes. But, really, is there any other set of eyes that actually matters?
