Miss Golden Globe Through the Years

Published - Jan 14 2011 08:40PM EST

Gia Mantegna, actor Joe Mantegna's daughter, will see a lot of screen time on Sunday night as this year's Miss Golden Globe. From Melanie Griffith to Rumer Willis, see the Hollywood debutantes who've held the title in years past.

When you tune into the Golden Globes on Sunday night, you'll see a sea of recognizable celebrities-from Ryan Gosling to Natalie Portman to Angelina Jolie. But the face with the most screen-time will be virtually unknown: Gia Mantegna, the 20-year-old daughter of Emmy-nominated actor Joe Mantegna, joins a long line of Hollywood debutantes as this year's Miss Golden Globe. She'll be escorting the nominees around the stage, doling out awards, and-perhaps most fun to watch-giving winners the shepherd's hook when their time at the mic is up. Miss Golden Globe is a rite of passage-a hallowed title bestowed upon a few lucky girls who are both the spawn of Hollywood royalty and themselves aspiring actors: Linda Evans, Laura Dern, and, more recently, Demi Moore and Bruce Willis' daughter, Rumer. Mantegna has had a short career-appearing in 13 Going on 30 and The Secret Life of the American Teenager since debuting alongside her father in the 2003 film Uncle Nino. But, like 1975's Miss Golden Globe Melanie Griffith, Mantegna could easily go from bestowing the award to eventually winning one.
