More RR Originals

Locke 'n’ Loaded:

Former Lost fan-favorite Terry O’Quinn makes his first appearance as Lt. Commander Joe White, McGarrett’s former mentor. O’Quinn’s reunion with one-time cast mate, Daniel Dae Kim, is short-lived but they will likely have more scenes together in upcoming episodes.

Baby-daddy Mix-Up:

Danny (Scott Caan) tells Steve that Rachel (Claire van der Boom) is moving back to Hawaii because the baby is actually Stan’s, not Danny’s. Rachel wants to make a go of things with Stan, if only for their child’s sake. On the plus side, Danny will not have to leave Hawaii in order to spend time with Grace (Teilor Grubbs), something fans of the Steve-Danny bromance are glad to hear.

Kill on Film:

McGarrett is cleared of the Governor’s murder when they find a hidden camera in the Governor’s home. Her murder was caught on film and while it was clear Steve did not pull the trigger, the killer’s face was out of frame so there is no proof that Wo Fat (Mark Dacascos) did the deed. However, the footage is enough for the new Lt. Governor (Richard T. Jones) to agree to reinstate Five-O, sans Kono, who is still being investigated by Internal Affairs.

Guns and Grace:

In my favorite sequence from this episode, Kono physically over-powers her captor and gets his gun away from him without breaking a sweat. This woman is no damsel-in-distress, but one would expect nothing less from a former cylon.

Jenna the Mole?:

In the final scene of the episode, Wo Fat ties up one final loose end by killing Victor Hesse (James Marsters) but that is not the twist viewers will be talking about. We see Wo Fat escape in a getaway car with none other than the lovely Jenna Kaye (Larisa Oleynik). Has Jenna been working for Wo Fat all-along or has he black-mailed her into it? Did he hire her to spy on Five-O? Did Jenna ever even have a dead fiancé?

Thanks to the Jenna reveal and a scene of Grace Park using those excellent fighting skills she picked up on Battlestar Galactica, I enjoyed tonight’s season premiere. Terry O’Quinn makes an excellent addition to the cast and the producers made the right move in making Masi Oka a regular this season, as the two easily stole the show.

Memorable Quotes:

“Let me guess, the Governor had it coming?” – Lt. Commander Joe White to Steve while Steve is in prison for the Governor’s murder

“Well, I’ll try not to hold that against her.” Joe about Jenna when he learns that she works for the CIA

“Patience was never his strong-suit.” Joe about Steve after McGarrett’s escape

“I try not to. It’s very scary.” Max to Steve when asked if he watches the news

“Book him, Danno.” Steve to Danny in the first use of their trade-mark catch-phrase this season
