Turf Wars

This week, Nancy and Silas continue their family squabble. Andy's forced to pick a side between the two while Silas recruits Emma from the now-disbanded Pouncy House as a partner. Nancy delivers a business presentation to Vehement Capital Partners. Heylia and Dean also make an enjoyable small appearance that might result in some pretty dire consequences for the gang.

Cold Calls

The main arc of this week's episode lies with Nancy and Silas aggressively recruiting the principle figures of their former partnership into their new, individual ventures. Everyone from the Silas' old modeling agency, suppliers (like Demetri), all their former drug runners and even friends and family are pulled into it.

Ouellette Family Reunion

One family falls apart while another comes back together. As repayment for busting Pouncy House, Shane decides to reunite Ouellette with his estranged stepson. The kid doesn't look too happy with seeing his old stepdad again though. Actually, he's kind of a brat about it, even though it's clear that Ouellette's a pretty awesome father figure. Unfortunately for the kid, Shane's reasons for reuniting the two are more rooted in getting Ouellette off of Nancy's back, so Shane's got no qualms about telling the kid he'll lose his kneecaps if he doesn't at least pretend to like the guy. I like to imagine that, deep down, Shane's got an affinity towards the detective though.

Love in the Strangest Places

Weeds continues it's penchant for odd pairings (that aren't all that odd because by now you're kind of used to them) by first hooking Doug up with Jolene, the cold as ice SEC lady, and then bringing in Heylia and Dean Hodes for a surprise visit to New York. Heylia and Dean end up getting their shipment jacked by some of Demetri's men as Demetri is hoping to please Nancy with a sign of loyalty or brutality or whatever. During the robbery, Dean gets roughed up and ends up in the hospital. It's pretty sweet how much Heylia cares and I'm really hoping they explore more of their relationship.

Escalation

Shane believes that his mother was to blame for his shipment being stolen. It's unclear if he thinks she also meant to send Dean to the hospital. When Nancy discovers what Demetri's done, she's horrified and tries to contact Silas to enact a truce. She calls him, but he seems to be ignoring her calls. It's apparently too late though, as Silas seems to be calling in the big guns by bringing in his aunt, Jill, ostensibly to permanently deny Nancy custody of Stevie.

The conflicts between Nancy and Silas are feeling so forced now. I understand that they have a lot of beef with one another, but the stuff they're doing, especially on Silas' end, just feels needlessly vindictive. Everything now is based off of simple misunderstandings that could easily be resolved if they'd just learn to pick up their phones.

Quotes

“Lemme ask you something...Did he ever hit you? Did he ever tell you you were s—t? Fondle your balls?”

-Shane, asking Ouellette's stepson about his indifferent reaction to seeing his stepdad.

“Yes, mother.”

-Shane, on being told by Nancy not to say “yes, mother” because it's creepy.

“Shane told me, you sneak! Sneaker! Sneakers lose percentage!”

-Silas, accusing Andy of shopping his loyalty to Nancy.

“She only values eight percent of me...”

-Andy, referring to Nancy's business offer.
