The Hipsters Next Door
A hilarious episode of Up All Night (http://www.nbc.com/up-all-night/) teaches us that a new baby can make life amazingly difficult -- especially if it doesn't like you very much.
This week on Americas Next Top Model, the girls are subjected to ever-traumatic free makeovers, forced to gorge on hotdogs on-camera, and given brand words which almost all of them can never live up to. Oh, and Bre has a long day of emotion. Did I mention I loathe Bre? I really do.
Welcome to The Hood
A new couple is moving in across the street from new parents Reagan (Christina Applegate) and Chris (Will Arnett). They're black-clad hipsters who might just be too cool for the neighborhood. Chris tries to impress them by leaving a bottle of tequila on their porch, but flubs it by pronouncing it "te-quee-la." I think I know what neighborhood I'm moving into next!
Can Babies be Racist?
We go back to work, where Reagan is getting Ava (Maya Rudolph) ready for her show. The baby is freaked out by Ava, who claims that it's because the baby is racist, but then Calvin (Nick Cannon) comes over and holds her and she's fine again. I'm sorry, but I just don't find Maya Rudolph all that funny; she's lucky that she has a stellar cast of comedians to back her up here.
Party Down
The neighbors come over and invite Chris and Reagan to their housewarming party, but it's too late to get a sitter. They make lame excuses about a "secret Radiohead show," but once party night comes the music is too loud for the baby to get to sleep, so they end up calling the cops. I used to live across from a Croatian bar that I had to call the cops on all the time. I feel their pain.
Buying Love
Chris and Reagan realize that if they call the cops, they'll be "those people" and uncool forever, so they call Calvin to come look after the baby and head over to the party. Unfortunately, the cops show up and Chris' Train ringtone gives him away as the party fouler. What a fool! Doesn't he know that having a Train ringtone can only lead to disaster?
I'm liking this show a lot -- great cast, good jokes and lots of room to grow. I hope it lasts. Have you ever met a baby that just hated you? And what's the weirdest gift you've received from a neighbor?
