Palm Springs is a famed Riverside County, California, desert resort city, approximately 110 miles east of Los Angeles. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 42,807. Palm Springs contains some of the world's most famous golf courses. He was 86. His publicist Alan Eichler says Stapley died of kidney failure March 5 at a Palm Springs hospital.
