During a Sunday appearance on CNN's "State Of The Union," Romney's senior campaign advisor, Eric Fehrnstrom, said the GOP nominee introduced himself to millions of voters seeing him for the first time.
Romney was the first Republican since 1952 to accept his party's nomination without mentioning war.
"He talked about the failures of the Obama presidency over the last four years and a talked a little bit about the personal side and what motivates him," said Fehrnstrom. "We thought that speech was a home run."
Obama's senior campaign advisor also appeared on the show, saying the president's speech Thursday will focus on how to move the country forward.
