Desperate Housewives: I am woman, hear me Score
In episode 11 of season 8, Susan (Teri Hatcher) goes incognito to Oklahoma to visit Alejandro's family. Meanwhile Mike (James Denton) plays detective himself, discovering some inconsistencies with Ben's (Charles Mesure) real estate project. Bree (Marcia Cross) shows Gaby (Eva Longoria) and Lynette (Felicity Huffman) the most recent letter she received, pointing out that it is the same stationary Mary Alice received. Gaby and Lynette decide it is Bree's problem that only she is receiving the letters and attempts to rekindle their friendship, leaving Bree in the hands of Renee (Vanessa Williams).
O-klahoma, where the Susan roams to clear her brain
Only Susan would believe it to be a good idea to check on Alejandro's family. Posing as a prospective buyer, she manages to meet Alejandro's wife and daughter, and cleverly gives them money for their rare American item, LEGO's. Okay, so it seems pretty lame that Alejandro's wife didn't suspect anything of a woman offering so much for LEGO's, but I can't say I would turn down her check. Of course, it's not enough for Susan to leave on that note. First, she verifies with Alejandro's stepdaughter that he did abuse her, then reassures her it will never happen again.
2 Guys + 2 Beers = 12 million
Mike knocks on Ben's door in an attempt to understand why his last check bounced because his paycheck never cleared. Ben brushes it off and pays him off. But, a relentless Mike stumbles into a suitcase -- yes, suitcase -- full of money and a loan shark in Ben's office. Of course, noble Mike kicks the man out, convincing Ben he'll never be able to pay it back. No worries. Mike really puts a spark in Ben's eyes when he accidentally reveals Renee's $12 million inheritance from her husband.
Vocabulary for Dummies
With Carlos in rehab, Gaby decides to take it upon herself to land a $90 million account. Well, herself and Lynette's vocabulary. One thing Gaby does know is that she needs Lynette to teach...no, mine and Lynette's mistake. Not teach, but tell her big words such as "Fiduciary" to get her through this meeting. What she didn't know was that the waiter would take her menu with her hidden vocabulary note cards leaving her wishing she had let Lynette explain the "big words" to her.
Why wine when you can be the wino?
After being shot down by Gaby and Lynette, Bree's back at the bottle. When Renee convinces her to go out to the bar, it only takes a little (who's counting?) liquid courage for the feisty, flirty Bree to pick up a man. Once at his home, the usually uptight Bree decides to do something else she has never done before, which leads to my favorite scene where Bree finds herself naked in her "date's" boss' pool. Lesson: see the lease before you bare your briefs.
On a Final "Note"
By Bree's own admission, she did have a little fun. So it's no surprise when she's back at it again the next night. But, has she already forgotten about the letter or who's watching her? And we all know kids can't keep secrets. So when Alejandro's stepdaughter tells her mother about what Susan said, all she has to do is read the name and address across the check. Guess we know who to be expecting next week.
Memorable Quotes:
"It's a dive, Bree. Dive in." Renee trying to convince Bree to have fun at the "Dive" bar.
"Fiduciary. Oh, I like how that sounds. How do you spell that?" Gabby trying to learn a better vocabulary from Lynette.
"Yes, a lady would wait longer. (Short pause). Okay, that's long enough. Let's go." Bree picking up Bradley at the bar.
"You can buy me breakfast." Bree's response to a man asking if he can buy her another drink.
