The Super Bowl is when ad agencies put their best foot forward and try to wow the world. With commercial time going for up to $4 million, ads need to push the envelope in order to get noticed. But sometimes companies go a little too far and end up pissing people off. Here are some Super Bowl ads that did more harm than good for their buyers.
Groupon.com courted controversy in 2011 with several commercials during the game. The worst featured actor Timothy Hutton, who delivered an impassioned plea for justice for Tibet... in the context of getting a great deal on Tibetan food with Groupon. Although not as offensive as others on this list, the clip didn't win many fans for the company, and they later pulled it.
