Will The Office's Dwight Schrute soon be a leading man? He might if NBC has anything to say about it. Reports that the last-place network is toying with the concept of a beet farm spin-off for Dwight actor Rainn Wilson got us thinking. What other sitcom sidekicks are ready for their spotlight in primetime? Here are the five yuk-y characters we'd like to see get a chance to shine solo.
Kelly Kapoor (Mindy Kaling) in the City
I agree with NBC that there's an Office mate that's prime for a spin-off. I just disagree on the cast member. Instead of relocating to Schrute farms, why not relocate vapid gossip-hound Kelly to a big city? We could follow the plucky adventures of a Scranton girl as she tries to make it in Philadelphia with only her fashion-sense, her limited smarts and her encyclopedic knowledge of celebrity gossip! Bonus: Kaling has proven star power with a stint atop the New York Times best seller list.
