New Girl: Three's a Crowd

Jess and Nick's argument about the nature of humanity gets weird really fast with their basement dwelling landlord, while Schmidt tries to decide when to make a move on his boss.

You Really Like Me

While last week's New Girl tackled the Jess (Zooey Deschanel) likability question, this week delves back into the question from a different perspective. Does Jess like other people too much? And if so, does this make her gullible? Nick ( Jake M. Johnson) certainly thinks so, although his opinion of human nature is kind of a downer. If only he wasn't robbed so often as a child!

Underpants Captain

In the middle of Nick and Jess' tug-of-war over human nature is their weird landlord Remy. Remy is a real prince, the kind of guy that keeps a bucket of gasoline in his office. When Remy finds out there are four people living in the apartment it seems like things are going to get complicated for our favorite roommates. But it gets complicated in a way much weirder than they could have imagined when Remy thinks Jess and Nick are trying to initiate a threesome. Thankfully, as in the apartment, four is just one person too many.

No Party on Neptune's Folly

This week's outing wasn't as strong as the past few episodes. While the Remy threesome scenes are as hilariously unsettling as you'd imagine having a giant man paw Nick's hair would be, everything else seemed to fall flat. Schmidt (Max Greenfield) gets two strong sight gags with the Japanese conference call and the garage security. Still, his storyline with his boss seems a bit weak -- unlike Remy's basement fermented wine.

Where's Winston?

We're halfway through the first season of New Girl and it still seems like the show is struggling to fit in time for Winston (Lamorne Morris). This week, Winston was more or less nonexistent. Maybe Schmidt really did steal his sparkle? Besides finding Schmidt's hilarious 2007 New Years resolutions and gross wall art, Winston did basically nothing. The show really needs to find a better way to develop and utilize his character.
