Bits & Pieces
Darryl, Darryl, Darryl ... Love hurts, don't it? I hate the "She's already got a boyfriend schtick."
The fact that Dwight was a self-described enormous monster baby somehow explains everything while raising many, many more questions.
Stanley always struck me as a Burn Notice man.
The "New Erin Love Interest" clock is tick-tick-ticking away. It's only a matter of time now. Wait ... is Val's mother a trannie?
Florida-Bound
Dwight is still hooked on being Angela's baby-Daddy. And Angela is hooked on ruining Pam's day with her rocking post-birth bod. Meanwhile, Andy inexplicably puts Dwight in charge of a special three-week assignment in Tallahassee. In other news, Valentines Day is taking its toll on a lovelorn Erin. Darryl reads into Val's gift big time until he finds out that she gave everyone the same thing. Dwight preps his team for the big Florida expedition. Unfortunately, Andy has already chosen the team for him. Friction ensues. Dwight has the bright idea of having everyone plead their case for why they should go. At the same time Jim quietly fields his own Florida offer from none other than California himself. He politely declines right before politely accepting the offer. Dwight throws a fit. Then he puts his team through the paces via a grueling tropical orientation. Darryl's relationship with Val gets complicated.
Perfektinschlag?
Please tell me what exactly is the point of having characters swear on network TV? Do the actors swear in-studio knowing full well that their words will never actually be heard?
Lately The Office seems to be utilizing this shock tactic a wee bit too much for my taste. It gets in the way of the fine art of cleverly bypassing FCC regulations with devious double entendres and the like .... Anyway, it was pretty standard tonight. Every character fell back on their usual schtick. For me though, credibility was torpedoed the moment Andy gave Dwight his Florida assignment. Since when has Andy not done everything in his power to make sure Dwight is kept on a tight leash? It just doesn't add up. Oh well, perhaps this will all make sense in a week's time.
Nicht Perfektinschlag
I don't really like how things have been going this season. Steve Carrel brought a certain edge to his buffoonery. Though he was loveable, he was a loveable jerk. Andy is just too nice. In order to remedy this, the writers appear to have amped up Dwight's nastiness. This only serves to upset the all-important balance of the ensemble. Hopefully they can make a comeback with the finale.
Quote Quorum:
"Baby's sleep a lot Pam, if you feed them enough." Angela
"I am so deep inside of Perfektinschlag right now." Dwight
"Flamingos can have orgasms that last 30 minutes." Andy
"Your card is more beautiful than the gloves." Nate The Creepy Warehouse Guy being Creepy.
"I do deserve a vacation. Every once in a while Batman has to take off his cape." Kevin, ever magnanimous.
