Rumpelstiltskin Finds Love -- And Loss
Rumpelstiltskin Can Love
In fairy tale world, we're introduced to Belle (it's getting difficult to keep track of all the characters), setting up the Beauty and the Beast story line -- except the beast here is Rumpelstiltskin!
Belle is actually his house maid and after spending quite some time together, they fall for each other -- and then everything starts to crumble.
After running into the Evil Queen, who tells her that any curse could be broken by true love's kiss, Belle kisses Rumpelstiltskin. His then "cursed" face starts to clear up and he's starting to become a man! But that's not what he wants, and gets angry at Belle for kissing him and doesn't believe anyone could actually fall in love with him .. Poor Rumpelstiltskin.
Dead or Alive?
It was quite sad watching him get so angry -- at her and at himself. In Storybrooke, Mr. Gold's shop gets robbed -- by Belle's father! Mr. Gold beats him repeatedly and gets thrown in jail. He's visited by Regina, who keeps pressing him to tell her who he is, and what his name is. The scene was quite thrilling as Mr. Gold responds with Rumpelstiltskin!
It's already been confirmed that Regina knows about the two worlds, and it's not surprising at all that Mr. Gold knows too, but it was never made certain until today. In the fairy tale world, the Evil Queen tells Rumpelstiltskin that Belle killed herself, and his reaction to the news is pretty heartbreaking, and it was a side of the evil dealmaker we hadn't seen before.
In Storybrooke, however, we see the Belle counterpart is still alive -- locked inside a dark, tiny cell. How did she get there? Where's Belle?
Mary Margaret, David At An Impasse
Mary Margaret and David are continuing to secretly seeing each other. I get that it's cute when they "meet up" at a coffee shop yet sit at separate tables and pretend to be occupied doing something else when in reality they just send lovey-dovey eyes to each other. But the story line isn't progressing as much as the others because of David's indecisiveness and Mary Margaret's willingness to put up with that.
Are you getting tired of the Mary Margaret/David storyline? Because I am. I understand he came out of a coma and barely remembers anything. But that doesn't mean he gets to string his two women along because he doesn't know what to do nor does he want to hurt anyone.
And giving Mary Margaret the wrong Valentine's Day card, the one intended for his wife, was just a low blow. Man up, David!
Too Many Things Going On
There are so many plot lines and sub-plot lines on this show that it's getting hard to keep them straight. One storyline is introduced before it disappears and then reappears again. It makes it hard to see where the show is headed.
