It's Valentine's Day and Max (Kat Dennings) is not enthused. Optimistic little cheerleader Caroline (Beth Behrs), on the other hand, is super excited.
Broken Heart
Earl (Garrett Morris) has a heart attack while at work, but the only reason anyone even knows is because he tells them so. Seriously, it's the most symptomless heart attack I've ever seen. He seems completely fine to me, but Max and Caroline take him to the emergency room anyway. The guy who works behind the desk at the hospital is a total jerk and Max is a total jerk right back to him -- I'm sensing a love connection!
It's All in Who You Know
Caroline knows the family who the hospital wing is named after -- turns out she dated their son David, who also happens to be a doctor at the hospital. How convenient. David helps them procure a private room for Earl. He's totally cute and smart and rich, and it seems she's regretting breaking up with him because she asks him out again. And he says no! After what happened with her father, he's worried about what people would think. Jerk.
Love is in the Air
Oleg asks Sophie to come clean his apartment. He's got the hots for her (but who doesn't Oleg have the hots for, really?) but she's not interested. Yet. Something tells me these two wacky foreigners are going to get together before the season's end. Meanwhile, Max makes amends with the hospital desk guy, who is kinda cute in a scruffy, bored kind of way and he asks her out. Love connection successful!
Anything But Predictable
Max finds out what David said to Caroline and tells him off. But David turns it around on her and makes her feel guilty -- he did get Earl a free private room, after all. So all-in-all, this Valentine's Day is a day of surprises: Caroline gets turned down by a guy, Max finds romance on her most hated of days, and Max gets put in her place by a pretentious rich dude. Way to shake things up, Cupid!
Cupcake fund total: $865.00. No money spent or gained this week, but they should consider that a triumph, what with Earl's hospital visit and all. Medical bills sure can get pricey!
