Thanks to viral videos, you can now throw out all of your own boring home movies and watch someone else's! Here are some of the most popular videos on the web this week (that I'm allowed to share on a family-friendly site)...
When I first heard that Whitney Houston had died, I was immediately angry. Not shocked at all, but angry. Angry at her, angry at Bobby Brown -- angry at everyone who throws away a talent the rest of us can't even wrap our regular brains around. I stole my high school yearbook quote from A Bronx Tale -- "The saddest thing in life is wasted talent." Whitney did not exactly waste her talent per say, as she left us with many classic songs and moments, but she certainly did not embrace it and respect it either. It's just sad -- and that makes me angry.
Romantic Search Engine
This one's for the laaadies! Specifically, my lady who sent this to me on Valentine's Day. Though it's unclear whether she sent it to me because she loves me, or because she was flabbergasted that the girl doodle turned down a dinosaur sweater. In case you aren't a regular reader, my girlfriend is dinosaur obsessed. It's at this point in the paragraph that I feel like (as always) I need to point out that yes -- she is age-appropriate. The moral of this Google doodle? Fellas, save your money and play some double-dutch. Happy Valentine's Day, Brianna!
Dad Doesn't "Like" This
I don't know if I'm more surprised that this video already has 23 million views, or that this guy is an IT professional. Sounds like a 15-year-old girl is doing some complaining -- what a unique problem. I know I'm supposed to be high-fiving this guy for taking a stand, I don't think he's exactly Father of the Year. By the way, great example for your daughter -- smoking on camera, littering and shooting a gun with exploding hollow-point bullets in an open field at a laptop like a psychopath. I have no idea how she turned out to be a little rebellious and bratty with those parenting skills.
Bear for Details
OK this video is viral, it is current, it is curious -- it is also CLEARLY a bear with a salmon in its mouth, right? (And also a guy with a terrible camera in his hands.) I mean, does anyone disagree with that assertion? I didn't even have to read the unnecessarily long questions that took up half of the video at the end. Even the bear is wondering what the hell he's getting 3 million views for. Either that or there is something really wrong with Snuffleupagus's trunk.
We'll Always Love You Too
OK I got my anger out earlier -- let's celebrate her life now. Whitney was a music legend and an aforementioned national treasure -- though by "national" I didn't mean the nation of Dubai. But still, touching tribute. Very pretty area and a nice tribute to a beautiful song... even if it was previously a very lackluster Dolly Parton song. Though I have to say, the Bellagio would have probably done a nicer job. Step up, Vegas. Kids, don't do drugs.
So that's what I have for you -- but what did you think? Which of these is your favorite? And what videos did you find on the Internet this week?
