RIP Whitney
Legendary singer Whitney Houston was found dead on Saturday in her suite in the Beverly Hilton. She was 48 years old. Although autopsies were only completed over the weekend, and there will be no conclusive answers to the question of Houston's death for several weeks, TMZ is reporting that the singer drowned in her bath after ingesting a combination of alcohol and the prescription tranquilizer Xanax. Sunday night's Grammys included several tributes to Houston, including a tearful performance of "I Will Always Love You" by Jennifer Hudson.
Someone Like You
On a lighter note, British songstress Adele took home the coveted Album of the Year at the Grammys. Amid hugs and tears, Adele accepted the award graciously, citing the ever-relatable subject of a "rubbish relationship" as the inspiration for the uber-successful album.
Baby Blue Debuts
The first images of Jay-Z and Beyonce's new daughter Blue Ivy Carter have emerged. The photo surfaced on the popular blogging platform Tumblr, accompanied by a hand-written note from the happy parents reading: "We welcome you to share in our joy. Thank you for respecting our privacy during this beautiful time in our lives." The couple has broken the new-baby mold by NOT auctioning off the first pics of their child to the highest tabloid bidders -- well done, Carters!
Too Real
Following the alleged 2010 murder of his wife in Cancun, former producer of the reality show Survivor, Bruce Beresford-Redman, has been extradited to Mexico to face charges. Mexican prosecutors insist that Beresford-Redman dumped the body of his wife of 11 years, Monica Burgos, in a sewer after a fatal beating. Beresford-Redman was a co-creator of MTV's Pimp My Ride.
Angie Takes on Afghanistan
Angelina Jolie may be following up her directorial debut, with Serbian drama In The Land of Blood and Honey, with a piece on Afghanistan -- but first she has to let anyone read it! "I did write something on Afghanistan," the humanitarian beauty stated. "Nobody's seen it yet. Brad hasn't seen it. It's hidden. So I don't know how very good it is, but it's been a pleasure to write."
