Even though not all of the singers prove amazing on The Voice, I'm still really loving this show. There's a lot to be said for the coaches not seeing the contestants. It avoids the "whole package" comments that involves looks as well that I always hear on American Idol. Really, it should be the voice that matters and a makeover crew can be sent out later as needed!
Just Ducky
Yes the first constestant tonight is a guy named Ducky. The coaches didn't think this 26 year old was ducky voice-wise though as none of them turned around. I didn't think he was that bad, but maybe the coaches are getting a little more selective now that they all have six or seven singers on their teams.
Two for Team Christina
Jonathas gets Cee Lo and Christina fighting over him a little. Christina gets a little razzing from the audience when she says she wants to "mold" the good-looking Jonathas. Well, Jonathas does choose Team Christina in the end.
Monique is up next and I like her voice a lot. I start getting worried for her when no judges are turning around, but then Christina does and Monique is on her team.
Two for Team Blake
Naia Kete, a street musician gets a red envelope from The Voice. I love her long dreadlocks, but really I'm not a fan of her voice all that much. Blake and Cee Lo both turn around though and she picks Blake.
Also on Blake's team is Charlotte Something, who's last name I have to double check to make sure I have it right. Wow! I really like it, but don't thing I could pull Sheri Something off as my name. Anyway, Charlotte's voice gets all the coaches to spin around and she picks Blake.
More picks
Tony Vincent's voice doesn't thrill me as he sings Queen's "We are the Champions." Only Cee Lo turns around, so Tony is on Team Cee Lo.
Anthony Evans is the son of a preacher man (great, now I have that old song in my head!) and he ends up on Team Christina.
Jamie Lono, who is Johnny's Cash's physical opposite - short and blonde - belts out Folsom Prison. This sandwich maker turned singer impressed Cee Lo who turns around for him. Jamie joins Team Cee Lo.
I like Mathai's voice as she gives it all she has to try to avoid a health career like her other family members. It's just that she really wants to be a singer. She gets all four coaches to turn around and I'm happy! Mathai chooses Team Adam.
