Schemers and spinners abound this week on Revenge as the Grayons prep for Daneil's trial.

Building the Defense

Now that Daniel (Joshua Bowman) is in Riker's awaiting trial for murdering Tyler (Ashton Holmes), the plots and schemes for his defense are beginning to unfold. He writes a letter to Emily (Emily VanCamp) declaring his innocence (which of course Emily believes). Things don't look that great for Daniel, however, after he's beaten to a bloody pulp in prison. Conveniently enough, the attack gets him house arrest instead of jail time. Does somebody want him closer to home?

Spin Doctor

Emily suggests to the Graysons that they find and hire Mason Treadwell (Roger Bart) to put a little journalistic spin on the case to garner some support before the trial. They even set him up with this own little office and own little blog called The Treadwell Report. Things take an interesting turn, however, when Emily IMs a hint to Mason that Victoria (Madeleine Stowe) is responsible for burning down his house and tells him where to find his missing tapes. Suddenly, the gossip is spinning the other way.

Benefit of the Doubt

Mason is so perturbed by Victoria's potential involvement with the arson that he makes a complete 180 and sets his reporter targets on the Graysons. After approaching Jack ( Nick Wechsler) for a little detail on Amanda's (Margerita Levieva) disappearance, but getting nothing, Declan ( Connor Paolo) approaches him to spill some secrets. He tells Mason that not only had Charlotte (Christa B. Allen) been drinking the night of the shooting but was on pills as well, leaving more than just a little bit of doubt on her eyewitness testimony. Uh-oh. And their relationship was going so well!

Queen of The Hamptons

Meanwhile, Victoria seems to have her hands full with a whole slew of deceit. It turns out that she hired her helpful yet mysterious friend (the same who found the tapes and beat up Jack) to arrange the attack on Daniel in prison, knowing that it might lead to a more convenient house arrest. THEN she runs into a blast from the past, artist ex-boyfriend Dominik Wright (James Purefoy), and has a totally steamy affair with him surrounded by his unfinished yet severely angst-ridden paintings. Yowza!

I, for one, am excited about the addition of James Purefoy into the cast. Not only is he super steamy, but we're supposedly going to get more flashbacks into his past with Victoria. One can only hope he wronged her in some way or another and decides to join forces with Emily and enact his own version of REVENGE!

Best Lines:

"That girl just might be Grayson material after all."

-- Conrad Grayson (Henry Czerny), when Emily suggests they hire Mason Treadwell.

"Don't gamble. You don't want to owe anybody anything."

-- Emily's advice to Daniel while he's in jail.

"I'm not here to patronize. I'm here to discuss your future."

-- Mason to Jack.

"Please take some advice from a man who knows a thing or two about selfishness and deceit."

-- Mason to Charlotte.

"You're just another puppet in the Grayson family plan. And it's time for your exit."

-- Charlotte to Declan when she learns about his betrayal.
