Gladys Knight makes her final appearance on a Motown results show.
Motown Sounds
After Monday's Motown-themed episode, Dancing with the Stars loses another celebrity dancer. The house band kicks things off with a Motown medley, and then it's time to pore through results one by one between montages and commercial breaks.
Jaleel is the first contestant to be declared safe, and he's promptly joined by William. Maria and Melissa are left in jeopardy, with the remaining bottom-dwellers to be named later.
Special Guests
Between results, we have a profile of dancer Michaela DePrince: her mother starved to death in Sierra Lione, and she then faced ostracization in an orphanage for her vitiligo-affected skin. Fortunately, she was adopted in America and rose to become a world-class dancer; she performs tonight, with guest Natasha Bedingfield singing "Wild Horses."
The Department Store Stars of Dance perform next, followed by guest musicians Boyz II Men. After that, we at last have our remaining results. Katherine and Donald are safe, while Gladys and Roshon are left jeopardized.
Dance Duel
Melissa is the first in the bottom to pass through, and she's quickly joined by Maria. That leaves Roshon and Gladys to jive for survival. The judges are very sweet to Gladys -- Carrie Ann even votes for her -- but of course Roshon gets through.
Gladys is happy for her time, and offers words of encouragement to the others. Though it's a little bittersweet to see her go on Motown night, it's nice that she made it this far.
