This week will decide who among the contestants previously voted off, will join Kim and Conda in next week's finale vying for $500,000. The favorites heading in have to be Cassandra, Jeremy and Emily because of the performance and dedication they displayed while still in the game. However, this season especially, we've learned that anything can happen.
Remember us?
The stipulation for those returning to the game is that only the eight with the most percentage of total weight loss will be kept. So the people who stayed longer in the house under the tutelage of Bob and Dolvett fared considerably better and make up the majority of those still vying for the final spot. However, two of the first three contestants do make the cut, in the slimmed down forms of Mike and Lauren. Mike actually knocked out Chism for the final spot, after Chism's dad made the big fuss last week that it's unfair for people voted off to be given a second chance.
And again there were three
The first episode this season asked the contestants to race for 40 yards to see who would earn a spot in the house. Tonight we hearken back to that night by asking the final eight to run 100 yards, with the first five to finish getting a spot in the next heat. Chris is medically unable to even compete in the challenge so the odds are instantly upgraded for the seven players left. Kimmy and Emily are the two casualties of this round.
The next phase is a quiz testing the contestants' knowledge of the caloric content of well-known foods. Mike and Jeremy are the first two to finish and leave Cassandra, Megan and Lauren to duke it out through a commercial break. When we return, we learn that Lauren is the final participant and now has a one in three shot of joining the finale. The final heat is an endurance test asking each contestant to keep hold of a literal ticket aboe their heads; the first two people to stumble are out of the game.
Jeremy sticks it out
That final phase carries out for nearly four hours. Lauren is the first to crumble after two and a half hours. Mike lasts to the point where they're both having to stand on one foot, but it eventually becomes too much for him. He places his foot down and Jeremy has earned his spot in next week's finale. It's pretty remarkable that two of the three finalists were some of the earliest people voted off. It would have been interesting to see how they would've fared had they made it to next week, but it was not meant to be.
