Movie Casting News

André Benjamin a.k.a. André 3000 has been cast as the legendary Jimi Hendrix in an upcoming biopic, tentatively titled All By My Side. Rather than focusing on the musician's death, John Ridley's film will chronicle Hendrix's early life up to the recording of his most recognizable album, Are You Experienced? Inspired casting? Well, the guy sure looks the part, but with acting credits in bottom-tier Hollywood fare and the occasional TV show, this one will take some convincing.

Training Day scribe David Ayer has cast the one and only Arnold Schwarzenegger in his action-thriller Ten, about a group of corrupt DEA agents who cross paths with a skilled assassin. That's one more "white-knuckle thrill ride" added to Arnold's upcoming projects. Don't overdo it there, bud, you're not as limber as you once were.

Modern Family has launched the beautiful Sofia Vergara into the spotlight, and now the actress has been confirmed to play Madame Desdemona in Robert Rodriguez's Machete Kills. Added to the roster of Mel Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez and Amber Heard, among many others, Vergara gives us one more reason to be interested in Rodriguez's expectedly bonkers sequel.

Evidently eager to wash himself clean of anything resembling sparkly vampires, Robert Pattinson will play military interrogator Eric Maddox, the man who organized the capture of Saddam Hussein, in Erik Jendresen's adaptation of Maddox's book Mission: Blacklist #1. Let me just say that I have absolutely nothing against Pattinson; if someone gave me millions of dollars to run around the backwoods of Oregon with Kristen Stewart on my back, I'd probably say yes too.

What many people don't realize is that comedians are often better actors, simply because mastering comedic timing is flippin' difficult. Jonah Hill is continuing his transformation into a dramatic actor with a role opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street, based on Jordan Belfort's memoir about his taxing years spent dedicated to the stock market.

It looks like the multi-talented Joseph Gordon-Levitt is setting his sights on a Little Shop of Horrors remake. Gordon-Levitt would undoubtedly take the lead role of the squirrely nerd Seymour -- but who should be his Audrey? Is this yet another project for the too-cute-it-hurts pairing of Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel?
