Thanks to viral videos, you can now throw out all of your own boring home movies and watch someone else's! Here are some of the most popular videos on the web this week (that I'm allowed to share on a family-friendly site)...
Party On
This is just awesome. Also a surprisingly beautiful song ... who knew? As I mentioned in my review of the 2012 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony, the Beastie Boys were for me, like many suburban white kids, some of my first exposure to hip-hop. They also created arguably the greatest music video of all time: "Sabotage." RIP MCA, thanks for the tunes.
Rawr!
What a perfect video for whatever it is that I do here: A funny viral video about viral videos. Oh, and I interviewed these dudes the other day in the CollegeHumor offices -- stayed tuned for that one on RR.com. Anyway, here's the latest episode of my new favorite viral video series, Dinosaur Office. In this one, our boy Craig finds what most of our subjects find out -- if you filmed it for yourself in the past, by now we've all seen it.
Catching The Bus
Watch out for that enormous, impossible-to-miss bus! This is likely the worst foam sword battle injury in recent memory. Though to be fair, most serious foam sword battle injuries go unreported. I assume this is real, based on the sheer number of people and reactions, but one never knows on the web. I can say this -- I took the bus for a year and nothing exciting like this ever happened. I have the worst timing.
Water Works
I love my Xbox Kinect. But if there's one thing I don't like using video games for, it's learning. (I'm looking at you, Leapfrog Leapster!) This certainly is not the coolest game I've seen on the Xbox Kinect, but it's still a pretty amazing functionality. That being said, I'll leave the sand and flowing waterways to the nerds and stick with the hardcore gaming myself. Crap -- I just read that sentence back to myself.
Slammed
This is hilarious. There is no comment I can make about this to actually enhance the humor. Still, I'm paid to try. The only person more confused than the drunk lady herself was the ref. Oh and the security guards. And the players, coaches, and broadcasters. Plus the fans, the viewers at home. Wait, actually the most confused person of all was me watching this, wondering how on Earth a disaster like her could afford courtside NBA playoff tickets.
So that's what I have for you -- but what did you think? Which of these is your favorite? And what videos did you find on the Internet this week?
