Yay! Probationary Agent, Ned Dorneget, is in this week's NCIS and I missed the earnest, bumbling agent wannabe. After his molar breaks on a popcorn kernel, the dentist Dorneget goes to finds that the tooth was hollow. It turns out that someone bugged Dornan's tooth! Abby finds the methodology "genius" as it involves new technology. She searches for a patent and it leads to Harper Dearing, who, as we found out in the last episode, is Gibbs' prime suspect in worldwide Navy terrorism.
Digging deep
Dr. Sam Ryan is also in this episode and that's fun too. She and Gibbs question the dentist and Dr. Ryan says he's lying. She's right, of course, as later when the team gets Harper Dearing on the big screen, he mentions the good doctor now has his permission to tell NCIS everything. Well that's really nothing much, so the silver fox duo want to see Vincent Maple, the Vice President of Dearing's company because trails are starting to lead to him.
Flower power
But, the team has to follow a lead to where Dearing himself was last seen. They see a photo of Dearing sitting on a certain bench in the park, but when they get there, there's only a little flower on the bench. Gibbs notices a bush of the same type of flower nearby and goes over there to find a toy sailboat inside the plants.
Why this is creepy is that it's a replica of the same boat that Gibbs has. Later, as they discuss the case, Samantha says she thingks Dearing is "fixated" on Gibbs and trying to teach the Navy a lesson at the same time.
Party pooper
Jimmy Palmer is nervous about what kind of bachelor party Abby is going to throw for him and he looks for any excuse for it to be cancelled. Abby scares him with some of the details such as ordering a huge supply of scented body lotion and borrowing the electric saw from the morgue. It's a joke, son!
Getting a clue
Later, Dearing, communicating via the big screen again, congratulates the team for finding the microchip he wanted them to find. Ducky confirms that the microchip is a Watcher Fleet one. The info is in codeand McGee says it looks like it was done to hide cooked books at Dearing's company.
When Sam and Gibbs speak with Maple, Sam's theory is that faulty artillery is being built to take men out of the fleet. Maple confirms this. Ned makes himself useful for once by discovering that the address Dearing mentioned to Gibbs on the phone - 54728 Donovan Street - contains the same number listed in the shipping records/ The team hustles down to the warehouse.
Money trail
They find a Russian night watchman pushing a cart with a case that contains $1 million dollars in the otherwise empty warehouse. The worker, Ghenna Kozlov, checks out clean and the team grills him anyway for clues. He says he was hired by an agency to just watch the place and only take a case out once a month to trucks that pick it up.
Let's get this party started
Abby is at work in a totally inappropriate outfit, even for her. It's a top hat with a sparkly, short kind of band leader's slash showgirl's garb complete with shoulder fringes. Gibbs declares the bachelor party still on because they're also going to do a sting operation and see who gets the case of money. that Koslov's going to deliver.
The guys are all at the bar and Jimmy Palmer is half toasted. He's wearing Abby's top hat now and makes a nerdy toast to thank all the guys for being there. Gibbs, DiNozzo, McGee and Dorneget are all there, but the party gets interrupted when a car pulls up and Koslov is seen carrying the case over to it. The team rushes over expecting to see Dearing in the car, but it's Maple!
Suspicious minds
The whole faulty artillery thing turns out to be false. Maple said he just went along with Dr. Ryan's theory since the truth is he's embezzling money from Dearing's company. This checks out and Gibbs concludes that Dearing knew Maple was stealing from him too. Gibbs starts to become suspicious of Sam, of all people, and I don't know if I like this. She does always seem to be sending the team off on her theories that are later proved false so hmmmm .... I hope we'll know in the finale of NCIS next week just what's going on with Sam.
Do you think Dr. Samantha Ryan is somehow involved in the Navy terrorism on NCIS?
