A bunch of stars dressed to the nines and the paparazzi sticking microphones in their faces to ask  probing questions - what could go wrong? Here are a few of our favorite open-handed slaps, verbal put downs and all out punch outs:

Getting Kissy With It - Will Smith

In a classic case of reacting before thinking, Will Smith recently smacked a Ukranian reporter when the guy's lips got a little too close to Smith's face. He was supposed to be creating some buzz for Men in Black 3, but instead, the video of Smith's slap received a lot more attention.

If the popular actor would have done his homework, he would have known that this reporter's gimmick is to give each of his interviewee's a little smooch. Then, Smith could have laughed it off and held up his hands to protest the kiss rather than resort to impulsive, open-handed violence. Anyway, immediately afterward, Smith was all smiles again as he happily signed autographs for fans. Mood swings, what mood swings?

The Chubby Chef's B*tch Slap - Jamie Oliver

Maybe you can't trust a skinny chef, but apparently you can't bring up weighty issues with a plump one either. In March, a female reporter mentioned to Jamie Oliver that he seemed to have put on a little weight. Rather than smile, or grimace, and reply that "Sadly, yes, that's the case, but  I'm a chef who enjoys my work a little too much," the cook took the verbally violent way out. The overly sensitive Oliver threw back this little verbal sting: "Thank you for noticing, you b*tch." Ah, his kids will be so proud one day.

Do You Know Who I Used to Be? - Sean Young

Best remembered in Blade Runner with Harrison Ford, fifty-something Sean Young was all smiles at the 2012 Oscars when she planted herself in between the likes of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie for photo ops. (In these photos, Pitt and Jolie are definitely not smiling back.) After being escorted out by a security guard when she tried to enter the Governor's Ball after party that night, Young slapped said guard after being caught trying to sneak in a second time. She claimed she was sober, but I wonder what Dr. Drew thinks since Sean Young appeared in a season of his Celebrity Rehab?

Yes, It's Me Again - Sean Penn

Sean Penn is well known for his repeated, violent public outbursts. (On a side note, I don't think I'll be naming any of my future children, male or female, Sean.)  In 2009, Penn kicked  a photographer at an event for Penn's movie, Fair Game. Penn also broke the photog's camera. These stunts got Penn slapped with both a battery charge and a vandalism charge.

Back in the day when Penn was married to "Material Girl" Madonna, he had a few more charges of violence against the press. Charged with assaulting a photographer in 1987, Penn served 33 days of a 60 day sentence. Hopefully, Penn's learned his lessons and settled down with age.
