In this March 20, 2012 image released by ABC, Emily Maynard, left is shown on "The Bachelorette," in Charlotte, N.C. Maynard talks about what she's doing differently this time around as ABC's "Bachelorette." She got engaged last year to Brad Womack in the season finale of "The Bachelor" but their relationship didn't work out.

I'm really enjoying this season of The Bachelorette with Emily Maynard. She's not ridiculously giggly or anything which makes her easy to watch. A lot of her choices in guys so far seem the same as mine - except for obnoxious Kalon. Otherwise, Emily seems pretty smart at picking out the flowers from the weeds!

A little kiss

Emily and Chris climb the side of a building during their one on one date. They have fun even though Emily is a little scared. After that, it's a Luke Bryant concert and Chris and Emily dance in front of the stage. Chris finally gets the nerve up to kiss Emily during the dancing, but he asks her first. She tells him to try it and find out. They kiss in little pecks more than anything, so I don't know if she's really that into Chris.

With a little help from her friends

There's a group date in the park. Kalon didn't get picked to go and he's pouting a little. I hope this doesn't mean that Emily's saving the one on one for Kalon later, but then maybe she'll notice what a jerk he is and he won't get a rose. At the park, after a little ball throwing, Emily's hoard of friends is there and they speak in groups of two or three with each guy there. Wendy is Emily's most outspoken friend and she picks handsome, blonde Sean for Emily. Some of the other girls like single dad, Doug, best. Jef is told he better tell Emily he does like her. Yeah, Jef! Ryan is in the running, but he tells Emily that he doesn't ever want a fat wife. Nice!

Homesick blues

Later over drinks, Emily makes sure to spend some time talking with both Sean and Doug. Emily calls Ryan too perfect, but for me Sean fits that label better. He's just so personable, good looking and well-spoken (Ryan is not well-spoken!) that Sean seems perfect. Doug tells Emily about his sad childhood and having to be separated from his sister as they were in different foster homes. Emily sheds a few tears because Doug is such a positive guy who's been through a lot in his life. It's Tony who can't stop crying about leaving his 5 year old son to be on the show though, so Emily lets him off the hook. He wasn't the right one for her anyway, she tells him gently, and he should be with his son.

Hello, Dolly

Arie and Em take a plane to Dollywood. He didn't even know Dolly Parton had a theme park. Uh, yeah, for a very long time, Arie. Emily is scared on the roller coaster and holds Arie's hand. These two are adorable together! Later, at the performance stage in Dollywood, they find a note that says "write a love song," but it's Dolly who has written them one. How she manages to sneak up behind them in 10" stiletto boots, I don't know, but Emily cries at seeing her singing idol. Em tells Dolly she wants more kids soon and later, Dolly tells the camera that she can't believe that Emily and Arie are on their first date because she can see something romantic between them. So can I, Dolly!

Fake out

Later, Emily toys with the rose in her hands while toying a little with Arie. She's trying to make it sound like she's not going to give him the rose and really the look on his face of hurt and disbelief is amazing. Emily notices it too and feels bad for trying to make a joke out of it. She was only trying to do it becasue things were getting so serious. Yes, they both agreed they wanted kids right away and this is a big thing to Emily. Arie and Emily laugh after she gives him the rose. Then they share a long kiss - the longest one on the show yet!

Back to work

At the beginning of the rose ceremony, after saying she's developed a few crushes, Emily picks Kalon to speak with and my wish came true. She gets offended by Kalon telling her to let him finish speaking and finds him a little "condescendng." Finally, girl! The next work to take care of is Travis and his ostrich egg which he calls "Shelly." Travis and Emily smash Shelly on the sidewalk and some of the other guys pour drinks on it. Yes, it sure must be boring in the house if that's what passes for entertainment!

Foot in mouth disease

Alessandro, the guy with the Jon Bon Jovi hair, is acting like the date is a job and saying he'd be compromising with Ricky. He says he'd have to tell his work that he'd have to compromise by not travelling. But, she and Ricky should be thought of more as treasures than compromises. Emily tries to give the guy an out, but Alessandro knows what he means and he digs his own grave by correcting Emily, that no, it would be a compromise for him to be with Emily and Ricky.

Emily kicks Alessandro out right there! Good work, Em! In the car, Alessandro says he doesn't get it. He was going to give up his "gypsy king' lifestyle for the lady and her daughter after all. Emily is a little shaken at being considered a "compromise" and she falls conveniently into Arie's arms to tell him about it. Emily and Arie passionately kiss and Ryan, who says he's jealous, but looks deadpan, sees this.

Rose Ceremony

Before the rose ceremony starts, Sean tells Emily that if they end up married, he definitely wants to have Ricky as his daughter. Wow, talk about the right thing to say at the right time! Emily kisses Sean for that, but I have to say not quite as passionately as Arie.

Arie, Sean and Chris all have roses already, so they're safe. There are 10 roses for Emily to hand out and Jef gets the first one, so I guess he impressed Em by telling her he does have a crush on her. Then Charlie, Doug and Michael (who they haven't shown much of) all get roses. Travis and Alejandro (not to be confused with Alessandro) are also given a rose as are Ryan and John, the "Wolf." Kalon, Nate and Stevie are left.

That wasn't the thorn

I can't believe that Emily gives the next rose to Kalon, but she does. I think Nate and Stevie are better than Kalon to have left. Nate gets the final rose and Stevie is sent home. He wasn't right for Emily, but neither is Kalon.
