Now that Charlize Theron seems to have a successful film career again, let's have a look at some other stars' upcoming films, as well as one extremely interesting true-crime documentary.
Red Lights (opening July 13) The Details: Red Lights (rated R) stars Irish heartthrob Cillian Murphy and Sigourney Weaver as a pair of scientists who expose fraudulent claims of paranormal activity. Robert De Niro costars as a celebrated psychic that Murphy is itching to take down. Current indie It Girl Elizabeth Olsen completes the cast. Rodrigo Cortés directs his own screenplay.
The Trailer: It takes a while to set up the storyline, but once it gets going, this trailer promises multiple thrills while, crucially, not spilling too many important secrets. Is De Niro's Simon Silver a fraud? Does he really have psychic abilities? You can't tell from this trailer, but it leaves you wanting to know the answers. Which is exactly how a good trailer works.
What's The Buzz: You can't beat this all-star cast, and the story is an intriguing one. Cortés made the interesting indie thriller Buried with Ryan Reynolds (the one that takes place entirely within a wooden casket) a couple years ago. So yeah, this has very strong potential to be a good, mature thriller.
