This week brought word that Glenn Beck is developing an animated comedy series. So I decided to focus on more positive, sane news of future entertainment.
Andy Samberg Jumps the Pond
Everyone loved those "Digital Shorts" on Saturday Night Live, it seems. Except cranky old me, who found their willful juvenility and overt self-amusement cheap and irritating. Not that SNL will be any better now that Samberg has moved on, but he's England's problem now. Samberg has been cast in the title role of Cuckoo, a new six-part sitcom series for BBC Three. On the show, an overprotective dad (Greg Davies) from the Midlands is dismayed when his daughter returns from a year abroad married to a New Age-aphorism spouting slacker-weirdo (Samberg). Rough Cut Television is producing the show, which will air in late 2012. It actually sounds like a good fit for Samberg. As long as he's supposed to be annoying.
