A school assembly in the gym is always good for drama. Everyone comes together, friends sit with friends and lovers sit with lovers. In the case of the newest Awkward episode Jenna was stuck sitting in between Jake and Matty at the assembly.
Loves Comes in Threes
Not only does Matty put his hand on Jenna's knee while sitting next to her and Jake, but then he gives Jenna a slap on the butt as well.
Jake, Matty, and Jenna all go out to lunch together where Matty eats part of Jenna's sandwich in what may be the most sexual bite from a sandwich ever.
The three of them have an afternoon of videogames that includes Matty taking his shirt off. Matty officially gets the award for "Best at making unsexy situations sexy."
Next, Jenna finds herself in her mom's new hot tub with Jake and Matty. If Matty manages to make video games and lunch sexy, what is Jenna thinking allowing Matty in her hot tub?
Jenna takes back control in her Three's a Crowd situation by beating Matty at his own game. She is performing some serious PDA (Public Displays of Affection) with Jake to get Matty to feel awkward and leave.
Running Does Away With Bullies
Valerie is the new vice principal and it's not only a promotion for her, but a promotion for Awkward fans. More Valerie means more fun.
Valerie is putting her stamp on the school right away by marking anyone caught bullying with a scarlet "B". Who do you think gets the first "B"? If you guessed Sadie you would be correct.
The second "B" is given to Tamara after she notices Ricky Schwartz making out with a girl in the bleachers and calls him out in the middle of the assembly. Awkward is a show full of memorable one-liners. Tamara gets the prize for best line of the episode. While sporting a full body tights outfit she puts a fellow student in his place by proclaiming, "That's right I have camel toe soak it in!"
As a result of Tamara's outburst, Valerie is making Tamara volunteer for the vice principal's 5k Run against Bullying.
Two's Company
If there weren't enough romantic relationships on the rocks, Jenna's parents are having their troubles.
Jenna's dad is coming home late and skipping out on dinner. Then he tries to sneak in through the back door to avoid Jenna's mom. He does get rid of the Jake and Matty Three's a Crowd problem by peeing in the hot tub.
Who is the Third Wheel?
Jenna is trying to lay down the law and get Matty to butt out of her relationship with Jake. Matty is blaming Jenna for the awkwardness and claims she is the third wheel. This is the classic third wheel dilemma. So who is the real third wheel? Jenna or Matty?
Normally friends are supposed to put their friendship over the opposite sex, but friends also need to know when to pull back. I think Matty is upset he lost out to his best friend for Jenna's affections. I think in this case the best friend (Matty) has to go. What do you think?
Running Off the Bullying
Matty reveals to Sadie that he is purposely sabotaging Jake and Jenna's relationship. This will almost certainly result in a blow up between the Three's a Crowd group.
In a surprise twist, Jenna's mom joins the 5k Run against Bullying after Jenna's dad moved out of the house. Maybe just maybe Lacey has learned she has to grow up and quit acting like a teenager.
Three's a Crowd is just the beginning. Jake, Jenna, and Matty are on their way to an epic blow up. The only question is who will be left standing when the dust settles. Who do you think will end up together? Jenna and Jake? Jenna and Matty? Jake and Matty?
Best Lines:
Tamara: "That's right I have camel toe soak it in!"
Valerie: "I should suspend her...it's a lot of work."
High School Guy: "Ricky Schwartz called us all beautiful so we would cup his balls."
Matty: "I hate to break it to you, but the only new variable in this relationship is you!"
Valerie: "Hey what is with the hooker shoes around the kids, this is a track not a stripper pole, you're fired!"
