Reality TV comes first in my life. Ignoring all other obligations, I tracked down news of Steven Tyler leaving American Idol, Big Brother's 14th season premiere, and surprising moments from The Bachelorette. So what, I forgot about feeding my two sons this week while hunting for TV news? Anyways, my wife is divorcing me and here's this week's Reality Roundup.
Steven Tyler's train kept a-rollin' away from American Idol this week. The superstar vocalist claims that though he loved his time on the show, it's time for him to move on. Tyler states he needs to focus on doing what he loves most: starring in terrible Burger King commercials and making zillions of dollars. Oh, and returning to a little band called Aerosmith, who wrote a great song called "Eat the Rich".
It's officially summer now with Big Brother's Season 14 making its premiere. With a nice mixture of returning (Dan Gheesling's back!) and new contests, this looks to be a solid season. That's especially happy news since ABC's rip-off Glass House turned out to be an awful show.
Emily raised some eyebrows on The Bachelorette this week. With only three contestants remaining, she and her suitors were flown to an exotic island to spend the night in a "Fantasy Suite" to (wink-wink, nudge-nudge), ya know ... Despite having shared the suite with a lucky man while competing on The Bachelor, Emily slept alone this time. This shouldn't matter. No one can judge either decision because, well, like, women have agency over what they do with their bodies plus, like, Soren Kierkegaard TOTALLY talks about how love is implied more by absence than presence. Jeez guys.
That's it for this week's Reality Roundup. Are you excited for Big Brother's newest season? Will you keep watching American Idol now that Steven Tyler has left? Does The Bachelorette intentionally emphasize themes from Purity of the Heart is to Will One Thing? Comment and let us know!
