The last laps of the Olympics now over, the blood sport of American politics once again drew the undivided attention of Jon Stewart on The Daily Show and Stephen Colbert of The Colbert Report.

All-but-official Republican presidential candidate Willard Mitt Romney announced his long-awaited pick for vice-president -- which was promptly picked apart by both TDS and TCR. Colbert focused on the media's insistence that Wisconsin congressman, on-again-off-again stimulus opponent and lapsed Ayn Rand acolyte Paul Ryan was a bold, BOLD choice for a candidate -- who nonetheless looked an awful lot like all but two vice-presidential nominees before him...

...while Stewart (with the assistance of correspondents Al Madrigal and Jessica Williams) focused on the curious conundrum that the Democrats seem to be even happier than the Republicans with the bold, BOLD, B-O-L-D Mr. Ryan.
