Sometimes you can learn a lot from watching late night television, like how to defend yourslef against a violent gang. Last night on Conan, self-defense was front and center and hilarity ensued.
Conan and the Art of Self-Defense
Conan brought in stuntman Steven Ho to teach him a few lessons on personal self-defense. Steve taught him the importance of lateral movement (or how to prance in circles), how to disarm a gunman and how to protect oneself from a knife-wielding thug (or how slapping your hands like a sissy can actually help). Steve was hard on his student; he repeatedly pushed Conan around, hit him with a rolled-up magazine and "knifed" him with a red-tipped marker (Conan's shirt looked bloodied as a result, but that didn't stop him from wearing it for the rest of the show).
The session concluded with mock scenario where Conan was attacked in a public bathroom by a gang wearing matching tracksuits, which is the most fearsome gang imaginable. Conan's a quick learner as he ferociously dispatched all three of his would-be assailants, leaving them all writhing on the ground, presumably from laughing as hard as I was.
