People aren't watching television the way they used to, a transition that has accelerated markedly this fall, making it much harder to judge whether or not a show is successful. During the first two weeks of the season, digital video recorder usage is up 30 percent over last season, said David Poltrack, top research executive at CBS. (AP Photo/NBC, Brownie Harris)

Somewhere out the in world were hidden 12 crucial pendants. These 12 little, miracle charms could either be used to restore power for the common good, or to take over the world. Head of the Militia, Sebastian Monroe, knew this and had been hunting down members of the original team that created the device. Charlie and Danny's parents, Ben and Rachel Matheson, were included in this genius team. Grace Beaumont, whom Aaron had been searching for to safely deliver his pendant to, also knew how to turn the power back on.

Revolution starring Billy Burke, Tracy Spiridakos, Zach Orth, Graham Rogers, and Giancarlo Esposito airs Mondays on NBC at 10 pm ET.

Peter Pan Bravery

Tonight's episode opened to a frightened Charlie being held down by soldiers holding a fire-hot branding iron. Would she become a part of the Monroe Militia? Not likely. It all started a few days prior when they stumbled across a group of orphan kids surviving Peter Pan style in an abandoned warehouse. Supernatural's Colin Ford guest starred as their leader, Michael. Suspicious and tough, these kids explained to the travelers that their parents had been murdered eight years ago by militia. Some too young to remember, these children hid in the basement while their parents were taken from them. To no surprise, Charlie offered to help the kids get their kidnapped brother back. The biggest shock was that Miles actually agreed without persuasion. Why? Because he was in need of redemption. Nora explained that it was eight years ago that these kids lost their parents while he was in charge.

The Plan

Not long into the journey the children, led by Michael, insisted upon helping with the rescue of their brother. Left unattended, Aaron's coveted backpack was ransacked by one of the kids. Out came the silver pendant and within seconds Aaron had snatched it back. Instantly Miles noticed the exchange and asked him why he was so nervous about a necklace. Unconvincingly Aaron brushed him off with a change of subject. Of course Miles would follow through when the time was right.

Unfriendly Persuasion

Monroe and Neville had small yet important contributions to this episode. For the past three weeks they had been torturing a friend of Rachel's to try to get him to crack. Revelations came through flashbacks from three years before the blackout. The Department of Defense was involved in the invention of a device that they had hoped would create clean, low cost electricity. Unfortunately, as Ben Matheson revealed, it actually inhibited it. The epic failure was that after realizing this, both Rachel and Ben continued under duress from the DOD to develop it to be used as a weapon. It seemed that no one was without guilt in these revelations.

Boot Camp Rescue

The rescue was under way when Charlie allowed herself to be captured in order to infiltrate the soldier's camp. According to Miles, the kids went into the factory, were re-educated, and then came out as soldiers. Miles admitted to Charlie that what happened to these kids could be blamed on him. Although he did not want to risk Charlie, something had to be done to rescue these children. It didn't take long for Charlie to grab the guard's attention and end up with a Monroe Militia symbol painfully branded on her wrist.

Let There be Light

Shock and awe distracted the soldiers just long enough for Miles, Charlie, and the kids to make their escape. Out of nowhere, while hiding in the lighthouse, Aaron's pendant ignited the bright searchlight. Jaws dropped and suspicion arose as they stared into the beaming white light. All at once they were to get the guards out of the way and return the kids to their camp. Miles immediately confronted Aaron about the pendant. He knew full well that he was hiding in the lighthouse and demanded an explanation. Aaron had no choice but to admit that Miles' brother Ben had entrusted the pendant to him only to be returned to a woman named Grace Beaumont. Knowing how dangerous this device could be, Miles demanded that Aaron turn it over to be smashed to bits. Aaron clung to it with every breath, as it was Ben's last words that he had to follow.
