With the final three contestants dancing for the win, the realization that the 15th season of DWTS is coming to an end hit home. Shawn and Derek, Melissa and Tony and Val and Kelly overcame many obstacles during the season to make it to the finale and they should be proud of their accomplishments. Viewer votes have never been as important as they are tonight.
Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars features hosts Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke Charvet and airs on ABC Monday and Tuesday nights at 8:00 pm ET.
Kelly and Val Unleash Fiery Passion
With only three pairs competing, the finale was cut short, yet each pair performed two dances. Kelly and Val were up first and they danced their fiery paso doble. While the couple had yet to receive a 10 this season, it was clear to see why they had made it to the finale. Kelly and Val were at the bottom of the leader board for much of the season, but still their fans brought them to this point. This couple is one of my favorites and I'm rooting for them.
For their second dance, the couple performed to Dirty Dancing's "I Had the Time of my Life" and incorporated dance routines from the film. Kelly danced an aerial number from the ceiling while Val played the violin. Take that judges! How in the world could they fail to give this couple a 10 throughout the season?
I guess it doesn't matter now. Kelly and Val scored a total of 59 out of 60 and received their first 10s from the judges. As their fans brought them to this point, it's safe to say that their fans can give them the win!
Shawn and Derek Flip for the Mirror Ball Trophy
Shawn and Derek want to win and tonight they pulled out all the stops. Combining Shawn's gymnastics with her dance routine was an impressive, yet risky move. The couple incorporated a number of flips that weren't allowed. Still they gave an amazing performance with the quick step. For the second dance, Shawn used members of her gymnastics team. Where Melissa and Kelly excel in graceful lines, Shawn outshines in strength. Some of the moves she and Derek performed this season were simply astounding. Tonight was no exception. Shawn and Derek gave a breathtaking performance with spectacular lifts, jumps and flips.
