Sirko (Ray Stevenson) is gone, Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) is adjusting, Dex (Michael C. Hall) is in love. Things were finally quieting down on Dexter, but now there's a diabolical killer scorching a path across Miami. Better stay near the water.

Dexter, Starring Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter, airs Sunday night at 9pm on Showtime.

Afraid Of The Dark

Dex introduces Hannah (Yvonne Strahovski) to his Dark Passenger. Well, he explains what it means to her and she thinks it's hokey. Why can't he just call it what it is? When she killed, she didn't blame it on someone else. It starts Dex thinking: maybe it's time to retire the metaphor.

Welcome To The Dollhouse

Hannah's dad, Clint McKay (Jim Beaver), drops in out of the blue to mend fences with her. By way of apology, he brings her childhood dollhouse. Super creepy. Turns out it was a consolation prize when he abandoned her. Still, they bond over dinner and the next thing you know, he's moving out of the motel and into her pad. Of course, it's her money he's after. Hannah says no, but still wants to believe. That is, until he crashes his truck into her greenhouse. Next thing you know, Dex has his fingers around his throat. Daddy ends up in the bay, shrink-wrapped.

Hell Is For Children

The Phantom arson killer left a signature at last week's crime scene: "Bobby." Thanks to Masuka (C.S. Lee) they find the killer's prints on a bus he torched, but they can't find a match. So Dex reckons that Bobby might be a kid, and checks the print against the juvenile records. Bingo: Joseph Jensen, who was just released for childhood arson. Dex clears a spot on his table for Jensen, but when Jensen explains Bobby was a childhood friend who he took the rap for, it reminds Dex of Hannah's point: you can't blame everything on the past. So Dex puts down the knife and lets Miami Metro deal with Jensen.

Mommy Dearest

María LaGuerta (Lauren Velez) meets Deputy Chief Matthews (Geoff Pierson) in a dive to tell him she's decided all roads lead to Dexter when it comes to the Bay Harbor Butcher case. He suggests retracing Doakes' (Erik King) last days. Whoa. Turns out the property where Dex killed Doakes was rented to the drug runner who diced up Dex's mom. Matthews knew mommy's killer, and also knew the Ice Truck Killer was Dex's bro. So how come the Chief didn't connect all these dots back then? Something is rotten in Denmark.

Luckily, we only have to wait a few weeks to find out what Matthews knew, and when. What else could he be hiding?
