Melanie Amaro returned to the X Factor stage and performed live as well as Ke$ha. The show is quickly coming to a close, and tonight we saw CeCe Frey and Diamond White eliminated.
X Factor results show featuring judges Simon Cowell, Demi Lovato, Britney Spears and L.A. Reid airs on FOX Thursday nights at 8:00 pm ET.
Demi Lovato Loses her Team
The country said good-bye to CeCe Frey tonight. It was past time for her to leave and I feel better knowing she won't continue to skew the results. I was surprised by Demi Lovato's reaction though. Demi wore CeCe's leopard-print body art on her face as a way of showing solidarity with the singer who was selected as the "Vote for the Worst" nominee.
Was Demi more upset over CeCe's elimination than CeCe? It certainly appeared that way! When asked what CeCe would miss most about the X Factor, Demi piped up, "Me!"
Okay. There you have it. Demi and CeCe are BFFs but the show must go on, even if Demi has been reduced from a mentor to a judge.
Diamond White and Fifth Harmony Sing for Survival
After CeCe's elimination, we learned the acts that were safe: Carly Rose Sonenclar, Tate Stevens and Emblem 3. That left Diamond White and Fifth Harmony to sing for survival, but before they could "bring it," Ke$ha took the stage and gave an energetic performance.
Fifth Harmony sang Mariah Carey's "Anytime You Need a Friend" and it was a particularly strong performance. Diamond White came out ready for a fight and sang "I Hope You Dance." I think Diamond has a weak lower register so I'm not sure why she'd choose a song that doesn't focus on her strengths for the majority of the song. She really blew it out at the end though. Personally, I'd go with Fifth Harmony and send Diamond home. She's just too young.
The judges had a tough decision and Simon pointed out that though he's biased, Diamond had been in the bottom before, so he would send Diamond home. Britney mentors Diamond and she wasted no time in saying she'd send home Fifth Harmony.
L.A. Reid congratulated both acts and said that he loved both acts but had to send Diamond White home. That put the decision in Demi's lap. Demi was completely impartial and sent Diamond White home. It was a hard decision but one that had to be made.
Diamond had a wonderful attitude and said she was thinking of Cher Lloyd who came in fifth and has an excellent career.
Honestly, if it weren't for Carly Rose Sonenclar, Diamond probably would have gone a lot farther on the show, but it seems America may only be able to handle one 13-year-old star at a time.
Voting Order Brings another Surprise
I do enjoy this portion of the show and learning the order of the contestants' results is a practice I think other reality competition shows should follow. While I'm sure many would have suspected Carly Rose Sonenclar would have secured the top spot for a second week in a row, the honor went to Tate Stevens.
Will the finals pit the two against each other?
The order was as follows:
1. Tate Stevens
2. Carly Rose Sonenclar
3. Emblem 3
4. Fifth Harmony
5. Diamond White
6. CeCe Frey
Khloe Kardashian Improving?
On another note, I have to say that I'm enjoying Khloe Kardashian and Mario Lopez on the show. I'm past their awkwardness and Khloe's earlier mistakes and can tell she is working hard to improve. It's rather interesting as you don't see a novice host on these programs, and it really seems as if we're watching Khloe at the start of her hosting career.
She still makes a few mistakes here and there, but there's something actually "real" about watching her slip up a bit.
