Tonight’s episode was woefully short on Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik), but other than that, it was a solid, fun half-hour as Sheldon’s (Jim Parsons’) assistant’s crush on Leonard (Johnny Galecki) caused a domino effect of drama amongst the guys. Penny (Kaley Cuoco) fretted over not being smart enough for her man, while Sheldon had to face off with the university’s HR department headed by guest star Regina King.

The Big Bang Theory starring Johnny Galecki and Jim Parsons airs on CBS Thursdays at 8:00 pm ET.

All About Alex

Sheldon and Leonard were playing a game of Giant Jenga, when Sheldon’s assistant Alex stopped by. Her flirting caused Leonard to nervously knock over the game. The next day, Leonard crowed to the boys, “strutting around like he was 5 foot 6,” as Sheldon described it. Unfortunately, Sheldon sought guidance on the matter from Penny, Amy Farrah Fowler, and Bernadette, and Penny was none too pleased to hear of her boyfriend’s pleasure in Alex’s advances. The girls counseled Sheldon to tell Alex to back off.

That went about as well as would be expected, as Alex was shocked when Sheldon compared her unfavorably to egg salad and recommended that she peruse illustrations of sexually transmitted diseases to cool her ardor during the work day. It was Sheldon’s turn to be baffled when the university informed him that Alex had filed a complaint about his inappropriate workplace behavior. Yup, classic Sheldon.

Regina King Meets Sheldon

Regina King popped in for a guest appearance as Janeen, the university counselor shackled with the task of explaining sexual harassment to Sheldon. Things did not get better as Sheldon explained that he didn’t intend to single out Alex as being a “slave to her menstrual cycle,” but that all women were such, emphasizing naively as only Sheldon could that Janeen herself was a “slave.” He then concluded his defense by spewing out a litany of similar infractions by his colleagues, causing Janeen to take careful notes.

A Sweet Serenade Saves Leonard

Leonard serenaded Penny with his cello and she accepted his apology. He was amused to learn that she was insecure about Alex’s crush on him. The boys all met up outside of the human resources office, where Raj was drinking alcohol to prepare for his meeting with “Brown Sugar.” After their meeting, Sheldon apologized to Alex, then informed her that she would need to take his university-prescribed sexual harassment online class for him.

The episode ended with Penny donning glasses to look smart and sexy for Leonard, causing him to escort her directly to his bedroom. All in all, it was a well-done snack of an episode, not up there with the Wil Wheaton saga or with any of the Penny and Amy bff good times, but still satisfying and fun. There were enough great lines to prompt a snort or two of laughter, but nothing quite as awesome as Amy donning a tiara and declaring herself a princess.

Best Lines

“Giant Jenga, I win!” – Sheldon

“It’s a total breakfast sausage-fest!” – Raj

“You can’t tell a uterus from a unicycle.” – Sheldon
