The Lying Game centers on long-lost twins Emma Becker and Sutton Mercer (both played by Alexandra Chando). The addictive teen drama is based on a series of novels by Sara Shepard, who also penned the best-selling novels that inspired another ABC Family hit drama, Pretty Little Liars. Separated at birth and unaware of one another’s existence, Sutton was adopted by a wealthy family in Phoenix, while Emma bounced around the foster care system while growing up. The twins reunite as teenagers and Sutton convinces Emma to take over her life while she searches for their birth mother. But when Sutton fails to show up at their designated meeting place, Emma must continue to live Sutton's life and discovers more secrets and lies than she had bargained up for.

The Lying Game starring Alexandra Chando, Allie Gonino and Blair Redford airs on ABC Family Tuesdays at 9:00 pm ET.

Alexandra Chando

At first glance, Alexandra Chando looks like a doppelganger for both Nina Dobrev (The Vampire Diaries) and Mischa Barton (The O.C.). A closer look reveals a remarkable actress who completely owns her dual roles twin sisters Emma Becker and Sutton Mercer. Her strong screen presence demands the viewer's attention and does not go unnoticed. Prior to The Lying Game, Chando played the role of Maddie Coleman on daytime soap opera As The World Turns.

The Emma, Ethan, Sutton Love Triangle

Every teen drama needs a juicy love triangle, and The Lying Game is no exception. It was quite obvious that Sutton's boyfriend, Ethan (Blair Redford), would fall for Emma after learning her secret. Not so obvious, however, was that Ethan would allow the manipulative Sutton to seduce him into bed after he fell in love with her twin sister. Emma was devastated when she learned the truth. In her mind, there would always be a part of Ethan that wished he was with Sutton. Ethan swore she was the only one for him, but something tells me Sutton isn't going to give him up without a fight. Not to mention, the love triangle between Emma, Ethan, and Sutton could turn into a love square with Tayer (Christian Alexander) in the picture.

Charisma Carpenter Promoted to Series Regular

Charisma Carpenter, best known for her role as Cordelia Chase on Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel, has been promoted from guest star to series regular. The actress was introduced as Char Chamberlin's (Kirsten Prout) aunt, Rebecca "Annie" Sewell, in season one. In the season finale, Rebecca's marriage to Alex Rybak was cut short when he was arrested. But the most shocking part of the episode was when Rebecca was revealed to be Emma and Sutton's birth mother.

It's Everything The CW Wished Ringer Would Have Been

In an unusual case of TV timing, two new series in which the main character assumes the life of her identical twin sister were introduced in fall 2011. The CW's Ringer starring Sarah Michelle Geller as Bridget and Siobhan Martin and The Lying Game starring Alexandra Chando as Emma Becker and Sutton Mercer. On both shows, the less fortunate twin assumes the role of her much richer sister and puts herself in dangerous situations while trying to keep her secrets. It was easy to for fans and critics alike to compare the two shows, but not even Sarah Michelle Geller could save Ringer. At the end of the season, only one show remained: The Lying Game. Why? The Lying Game is smarter, faster-paced, and places more of an emphasis on the dynamic between the twin sisters instead of confusing sub-plots.
