Carrie (Allison Miller) and Ryan (Mathew Perry) as girlfriends? After discovering their mutual love of reality television, pink cocktails and dance-themed video games, Ryan and his assistant become best friends - and maybe something else. Emotions run high in tonight's episode where Ryan and others in the group test the magical power of Japanese "goal dolls." The beautiful, Iranian-born British actress Nazanin Boniadi and American Olympic gold medalist Shaun White guest star.

Go On Starring Matthew Perry, John Cho and Laura Benanti airs on NBC Tuesdays at 9:00 pm ET.

Ryan's Admission: "I Like Stupid Girl Stuff!"

Are Ryan and Carrie suddenly best "girlfriends" and maybe more? While taking lunch at her desk Ryan's assistant Carrie is watching Real Housewives of New Jersey, although he initially makes fun of her he quickly admits that yes, he too is addicted to "stupid girl stuff" like "reality TV, fun music and pink drinks." A montage follows showing the pair sharing those and other supposedly girlish pursuits, including playing dance-themed video games and toying with hair-styling software.

Gold Medalist Shaun White and Exotically Gorgeous Nazanin Boniadi Guest Star

Can Ryan compete with an Olympic gold medalist for a beautiful girl? Only if he asks that athlete, played by guest star Shaun White as himself, to step aside and "let me have this one." That "one" is Carrie's friend, Hannah, as played by Nazanin Boniadi, an Iranian-born British actress familiar to fans of How I Met Your Mother, General Hospital and Iron Man. Unfortunately, Carrie is also very competitive with and jealous of her friend, as she admits to Steven (John Cho) and is not happy when Hannah effectively steals Ryan away.

Yolanda's Box of Magic Goal Dolls

Does writing a wish on the bottom of a Japanese goal doll make it come true? Yolanda (Suzy Nakamura) introduces the group to that Japanese tradition, offering everyone to take one from the crate of dolls sent to her by her grandmother in Tokyo. Everyone scribbles their hopes on the bottom of their dolls. Ryan's wish is to "get a first date over with," as he is so nervous about going out with women that sometimes, as he admits to group leader Lauren (Laura Benanti) he feels like he’s in junior high.

As she starts her new job at the hospital where fellow group member Sonia (Sarah Baker) also works, Yolanda decides to make her wish happen by taking Sonia's advice to re-invent herself - as a "slutty party girl!" The jokes fly as the two jump from situation to situation, making up one-line zingers as to her sexual and alcoholic escapades - only to backfire when the dour man from human resources demands Yolanda take a urine test and answer concerns about her competence.

Ryan Gets Girl, Loses Girl, Gets Girl Back From Shaun White

Finally, Ryan goes on a date! Although obviously nervous, Ryan not only goes on a date with the lovely Hannah but also manages to charm her into kissing him. Unfortunately, the next day he receives a text from her dumping him. The timing is especially bad, as she was to be his date to a fancy affair. Carrie offers to go as his "pity date." Lauren, however, encourages him to go get Hannah back - which he does, showing up at a bar where she and Shaun are on a date. This gesture impresses Shaun -"going up against a gold medalist" shows courage, he tells Ryan- and Hannah, who leaves with Ryan.

Carrie, all dressed up to be Ryan's pity date, takes it as a compliment when the girl Steven is escorting for the evening scowls at her. Unfortunately her confidence and good mood is short-lived, as Ryan enters with Hannah on his arm. It is not until the next day at group when Ryan is bragging about how he got Hannah back that Lauren points out that he not only hurt Carrie's feelings, but acted like a character in the high school teen movie Mean Girls. Ryan goes to apologize, bringing Carrie silly girlish gifts and agreeing to take her out for a fancy night on the town to make amends. Hannah, however, shows up to complicate that - but Ryan does the right thing, and for once someone chooses Carrie over Hannah.
