Michelle Monaghan Joins McConaughey and Harrelson on HBO

With cable TV series bumping up against Hollywood in popularity, high-profile actors are lining up to get in on the action. Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson have already signed on as the two lead cops in True Detective, an eight-episode HBO series following the men as their lives connect over a 17-year serial killer hunt, and now Michelle Monaghan (Gone Baby Gone) has joined the show in the co-starring role of Harrelson's wife. No word on when this project will hit the airwaves, but it's practically guaranteed to be a hit.

Grey's Anatomy's Scott Foley Cast in Scandal

Apparently Scott Foley and showrunner extraordinaire Shonda Rhimes are buddies, as the Grey's Anatomy vet is hopping aboard Rhimes's successful ABC drama Scandal later in its current second season. Foley's role is so "scandalous" (get it?) that the network hasn't revealed a single detail, but we're told that his role is pivotal.

Jaime Pressly Plays Jake's Cougar Girlfriend in Two and a Half Men

Have we all heard enough about Angus T. Jones and his hilarious comments about the awfulness of Two and a Half Men? Good, then let's proceed. The actor recently returned to the set of the CBS sitcom, and perhaps to keep him happy, the writers have given Jake a new love interest: Jaime Pressly, playing a South Dakota "cougar." Yes, the 35-year-old Pressly is much older than 19-year-old Jones; apparently, that's the joke.

Britney Spears Steps Down from The X Factor

In more tragic news, Britney Spears has opted out of her X Factor hosting gig because, according to her Twitter account, "Watching them up on that stage made [her] miss performing so much!" Certainly her decision had nothing to do with the fact that no one appreciated her well-educated critiques, essentially amounting to the helpful phrase, "you sing real good." Who will replace Ms. Spears at the judges' table? I personally vote for the industry savvy of Ke$ha to size up next year's contestants.
