With the seven year series coming to an end with a one-hour special on January 31, Jack, Liz and the rest of the cast use this episode to set the stage for the finale, and that includes saying farewell to their fictional show TGS - and promoting their hillbilly page turned janitor Kenneth to be the next president of NBC. James Marsden returns in his recurring role as Tina Fey’s husband Chris in this the second to last episode of 30 Rock.

30 Rock Starring Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin, Tracy Morgan and Jane Krakowski airs on NBC Thursdays at 9:00 pm ET.

Tina Fey's Last Stand

Can Tina Fey's Liz Lemon save her fictional NBC show TGS, even after Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin) tells her the show must cost the network zero dollars? "Impossible!" she screams. Jack asks Liz if her heroes like Joan of Arc and Amelia Earhart gave up just because their tasks seemed impossible. Liz rushes off to rally her troops - only to realize that they are a hopeless bunch who never step up to the plate and rely on her to fix everything.

James Marsden and the Twins

Is James Marsden finally going to be a dad? Turns out his character Chris and Liz are going to adopt a pair of eight-year-olds twins - and they are coming in on a plane to Houston next week. Chris rushes out to do some last minute shopping to prepare, winding up at "Tramp World," which he explains to Liz excitedly is not a "peep show but a trampoline store!"

Kenneth Hailed as NBC's "Most Experienced Page"

Although forced to turn in his beloved blue blazer and gray pants, Kenneth (Jack McBrayer) has stayed on at NBC as a janitor. With five candidates for network president on their way for a tour, however, Jack calls Kenneth up and hands him back his uniform, because no one else but "NBC's most experienced page" will do to squire this quintet about. How they act while on that tour is the final test for those who seek to fill Jack's shoes as he leaves NBC to head its parent company, Cabletown. Kenneth wants Jack to pick the candidate who is "purest of heart," but Jack believes the network is dying, and so wants someone like himself - "a grave robber who will strip every last bauble off the corpse."

Jenna and Tracy Tell Liz to Let Everyone Else Step Up and Help Her - by Quitting

While Liz struggles to land “Bro-Body Douche” as a sponsor, slash the budget with Hornburger (Scott Adsit) and take other shortcuts to save the show - she finds out from Chris that the twins are not coming next week - but today! When Liz tells Chris she can't go with him to meet the children they are adopting because she has to stay and save the show, Jane Krakowski's Jenna and Tracy Morgan's Tracy Jordan decide that there is only one thing they can do to help Liz - quit. The rest of the cast and crew follow their lead, and as they tender their resignations they urge her to go meet her new children - who turn out to be eight-year old versions of Tracy and Jenna.
