NBC gave us not one, but two new episodes of The Office tonight – both of which may or may not involve a certain camera crew member who we’re all hoping doesn’t cause problems for our beloved Pam and Jim.
The Office starring Rainn Wilson and John Krasinski airs on NBC at 9:00 pm ET.
Junior Salesman
When Dunder Mifflin CEO, David Wallace, assigns Dwight (Rainn Wilson) to find a part-time replacement for Jim (John Krasinski), Dwight invites several of his closest friends to interview for the position -his best friend Rolph, cousin Mose, a former babysitter/girlfriend, even a friend from X-Men school. He reluctantly agrees to interview Clark (Clark Duke), even though he doesn’t think he has a shot against his friends.
Clark gives perfect answers to every question during his interview, but Dwight still doesn’t believe him to be a real contender. Dwight eventually realizes that he has higher standards for his work friends and decides he cannot hire any of his friends. Not wanting to insult his friends, Dwight asks Jim to help let them down easily. Dwight pretends to act surprised and outraged, but his friends blame him and leave him out of their paintball plans. Later, Dwight receives an email from his friends – a picture of them flicking him off. He then realizes he outgrew his friends in the span of three hours.
Clark becomes Dunder Mifflin’s part-time junior salesman and Pam’s (Jenna Fischer’s) new desk mate. She teams up with Dwight to haze the new guy. The episode ends with Jim telling the documentary crew that it does matter who sits next to Pam – after all he spent all those years across from her and fell in love. And that’s when the camera pans to sound guy Brian, who is staring at Pam. Ruh-row!
Vandalism
When someone vandalizes her warehouse mural, Pam (Jenna Fischer) enlists the help of Dwight (Rainn Wilson) and Nellie (Catherine Tate) to track down the guilty party. The co-workers set out to find Nate, the weakest warehouse worker, who quickly cracks under pressure and tells them Frank is the vandal.
Dwight offers to take vengeance on Frank, but Pam declines. After interviewing Frank in the conference room and even going as far as to apologize to him for taking over warehouse space, Pam realizes Frank isn’t sorry. With the help of Dwight she gets her revenge by defacing Frank’s pick-up truck. Since Frank painted a butt on Pam’s drawing, Dwight decides to paint a replica of Pam’s mural on Frank’s truck’s butt – an eye for an eye. Meanwhile, Pam paints a naked portrait of Frank on the driver’s side door. Frank finds Pam finishing her masterpiece on the side of his truck and comes after her in a threatening manner. That’s when Brian, the sound guy, comes to her rescue and knocks Frank to the ground with his boom. The two get into a fight, which ends with both Frank and Brian being fired. Pam apologizes to Brian for getting him fired, saying he shouldn’t have protected her. Brian tells her if she ever needs him to call and he’ll be there.
Out-of-Office Politics
Angela (Angela Kinsey) asks her co-workers if she can leave work early to attend her son Phillip’s first birthday party, which is actually just a party of her husband’s campaign donors. Kevin eagerly offers to donate so he can attend the party, but Angela tells him and the rest of her co-workers that none of them made the cut. When Oscar (Oscar Nunez) tells her that Senator Lipton invited him for support, she decides to ask Dwight to join her. He declines the invite and she reluctantly allows Kevin to attend the party instead.
Later that evening, it becomes painfully obvious that the Senator only invited Oscar to the party to use him for his political agenda as his token Mexican friend. At the end of the night, Brian tells the Senator he is a terrible person because both Angela and Oscar care about him and he’s just using them.
While subletting an apartment with Jim, Darryl realizes that he and his new roomie are the exact opposite in terms of cleanliness. He’s clean and Jim is messy -using old t-shirts as wash rags and letting dishes soak instead of washing them. He quickly lets their home problems affect their work relationship when Jim takes his to-go thermos to work by mistake. Jim accuses him of being crazy and Daryl eventually apologizes saying he should be grateful because Jim got him the job.
