Two siblings on Modern Family find out that they're far from perfect. Claire (Julie Bowen) spends Valentine's night in the ER, while her brother, Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) learns the tough lesson of excess partying.
Modern Family starring Ed O’Neill, Sof'ia Vergara, Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell airs on ABC Wednesdays at 9:00 pm ET.
An Affair of the Heart
It wasn't the romantic dinner nor martini's that landed Claire in the ER. The strong and almighty Claire falls victim to a minor erythema heart condition that forces her to visit the hospital. With the doctor's assurance that she would be just fine, she has no intention of allowing anyone else in the family to learn of the incident. Phil (Ty Burrell) is sworn to secrecy, which is about as secure as a wet paper towel supporting a heavy box. Of course Phil tells the kids that Mom had a little health episode due to a tiny heart issue. Not the best way to leave the kids and head upstairs. The children freak out and tear upstairs to check on their mom. There, smothered in blood from Phil's nosebleed, is their mother laying on the bed in a sexy teddy. Convinced that her mother's heart has exploded, Alex ends up fainting and falling to the floor. Just another Valentine's Day in the Dunphy home.
The Best Laid Plans of Hearts and Wine
Gloria (Sof'ia Vergara) has plans for her amazing husband on this romantic day. Dressed all in velvet red, she greets Jay (Ed O’Neill) with a promise of a beautiful day with just the two of them. Jay races home from his meeting ready for a night of romance to find instant obstacles in his way. First the baby gate of the freshly baby-proofed stairway proved to be a challenge he wasn't quite prepared for. Of course both Manny and little Lily open the gate with ease. The proud man tries his best not to allow his pride and prowess to get in the way of the love making in store. Yet in the end, being a good father trumps romance every time.
Hangover Remake
Cam (Eric Stonestreet) and Mitchell decided to throw a lonely hearts party for all their single friends. A bit of a shy host, Mitchell decides to prepare for the evening with a drink, or two, or ten. The next morning, the couple awake to find not only Christmas reindeer decorations in their living room, they also find none other than Haley's boyfriend, Dylan, sitting comfortably on the couch. Apparently they have not only inherited a houseguest, they dyed their lovely white cat to a pretty Valentine's pink. Both far too kind to send Dylan back out on the street, tough Lily tells him in no uncertain terms that her house is not a hotel.
